Roma Street Parkland Wedding: Shawn and Michaela

He’s from Singapore, She’s from Australia. They met through common faith in Brisbane and on one of their first interactions. She knew they had a moment and he was the one for her.

Shawn and Michaela celebrated their marriage surrounded by loved ones, travelling all the way from Adelaide and as far as Singapore where they spent 6 months abroad. The little things, intricacies that both Shawn and Michaela bring to the table is evident throughout the day. From the boutonnieres gifted to the family, bridesmaid’s names embossed onto their purses to the wooden table numbers that had a selection of their engagement photos printed on them. I think Michaela gets this from her mother, Myléne who specializes in jewellery making. She hand crafted a Earring & Necklace set for Michaela and her bridesmaids.

After their ceremony at the St Brigid’s Church in Red Hill, Shawn and Michaela had their session at the nearby Roma Street Parkland where we braved crowds of people dressed in striking colours for an Indian festival. Not to be deterred, we were lucky to catch the tail end of the day when things were winding down and light was on our side to capture some of my favourite shots of the day. Roma Street Parkland definitely has some of the best backdrops in Brisbane, beautiful vine-laden red walls to plant walls and a 4 meter tall waterfall feature. Ending their day at the beautiful Watermark Hotel

It is especially special to me when I get the opportunity to photograph and document people I have worked with in the past; Michaela at Daniel and Aneta’s wedding and at Ignite Conference. I’m extremely grateful and at times of uncertainty, this is affirms my craft.
