A couple months ago, I decided to join the Latin Energy intermediate salsa troupe, a 13 week choreography training that would perform at a couple of events. What started off with 5 couples slowly cut down to a 2 couple routine with each couple slowly dropping off the team due to personal commitments and lack of partners(we were short of guys) eventually leaving Charissa and I partnering up and Col partnering Ginette.

The routine was choreographed by Col Crane and Ginette Poulin who did a fantastic job putting together music, theme and not forgetting spending many hours figuring out the whole routine. Based on Pepe La Peu, the Looney Tunes french skunk who repeatedly mistakes a cat with a stripe on her back as a female skunk, we doned our French Barrets, cheesy mustaches and french breads, I dont think anyone noticed that I was an Asian guy trying to pass off as a French dude.

After having danced for a bout a year now and usually shooting dance performances behind the camera, it was quite an experience and change of pace to be performing not only in front of such a big crowd at the Brisbane Latin Christmas party, but also in front of the cameras. Now I know what its like to have someone shooting your every move, its exhilarating! Possibly due to the insane amount of adrenaline pumping into my blood from the nervousness and cheering, which lasted through the night.

Tim, made such a big effort to attend the event I performed at and even took a video of my performance! The video speaks better than my words so watch on =)

What do you think? :p
